ice skating in charlotte

Snow pants are the best thing to wear ice skating when it is very cold out, and they can keep you dry, too, if you fall. Don’t forget your hat if you get cold easily. According to the Whitewater Center, the ice rink consists of over 24,000 sq. Ft. of unique skating space split into four distinct skating areas, including two ice trails and two free skate zones. This fine establishment is open all year round and the timings’ for the public skating vary daily.

Holiday on Ice Returns on November 15,

General admission is $18.00 per person for a 75-minute skate session. In the middle there’s an on-ice Airstream that serves hot and cold beverages. Off-ice, sandwiches, salads, soup, drinks and desserts are also available for purchase. For just $10, you get to spend two hours on the ice. This is a family-friendly outdoor skating experience.

Carowinds Snowflake Lake

There are three different activities to do and an on-ice air stream that serves hot and cold beverages depending on your preference. If you are looking for a fun winter activity, ice skating is a perfect choice. Charlotte has many great places to go ice skating, and no matter your skill level, there is an option for you. In this blog post, we will list some of the top places in Charlotte where you can enjoy a nice skate on the frozen surface of a rink surrounded by other happy skaters. Skaters will be given a skating punch pass good for six free public skating sessions good for the duration of your class session. We recommend at least one practice a week for Basic levels and 2+ days a week for Free skate levels.

US National Whitewater Center

There is an on-ice Airstream that you can visit for rest and purchase warm hot chocolate or cold beverages. For one of the best winter experiences for the whole family, this is one of the most exciting ice skating centers to visit, and it is open for the whole winter season. There is no better way to jump into the holiday spirit than to lace up a pair of ice skates and fly around on the ice! So, we wanted to share one of our favorite activities you can do in the winter, which is ice skating near Charlotte, North Carolina. Once again the Upper Pond of the whitewater channel has been converted into a 24,000 square foot ice skating rink. It includes both ice trails and free skating.

Truist Field is turning into a winter wonderland for the holiday season, and it’s your chance to try ice skating or snow tubing next to Charlotte’s Uptown skyline. Pineville Ice House is one of two indoor ice rinks in Charlotte. Pineville is open year-round and holds classes for the ice spots, and has an open skate day.

Open select nights, November 17, 2023, to January 1, 2024. Shred some ice this winter in the Whitewater 3 vs 3 adult Pond Hockey league. Join the recreational division just for fun, or compete in the competitive division for top honors. It’s important to note that different days have different prices, and they are open all year round. $24 or $28 (plus tax) non refundable deposit due at the time of booking. Deposit price depends on size of the groupSkaters cannot pay individually, the balance must be paid in full upon arrival.

❄️ SocksAlmost all skate places require you to have socks in order to wear ice skates. So pack a couple of pairs of socks (in case one pair gets wet). I recommend bringing a pair of thicker socks as well in case you need to better fit the pair of skates. Dates are November 18, 2023, through January 28, 2024.

Ages 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Also, make sure not to bring any purses, backpacks, etc.; they will not allow you to take them on the ice. Carowinds Winterfest is the biggest holiday event in the area, with rides, games, and all of the festive cheer. Enter Snowflake Lake as Jack Frost invites you to test your skating abilities. Dogs are allowed on the trail, but use caution on the suspension bridges. The motion can be scary to dogs, and they’re very high off the ground.

This is a massive indoor rink and is located just off of exit 64B of 1-485. There are a lot of special events, which include, a Harry Potter night, food truck night, and a Christmas-themed fest for four days. And special offers on Wednesdays where two people can skate for the price of one. Centered in the converted pond is an on-ice Airstream serving hot and cold beverages when guests need a skate break. Hawthorne's New York Pizza and Bar Ballantyne, Charlotte Menu, Reviews 273, Photos 72

hawthorne pizza charlotte

Will definitely come back when I am in town. Consistently lauded as the best pizza in the state of North Carolina, Inizio is dedicated to the art and craft of true Neapolitan-style pizza. 90 seconds and 900 degrees later, the naturally risen dough transforms into a leopard-skinned pizza crust of dreams. Starting with San Marzano tomatoes and real buffalo milk mozzarella and ending with gelato or cannoli, this modern, casual spot consistently hits on all cylinders for pizza and for flavor. Somehow their soda is just extra great. Thursday or Wednesday nights there is sometimes a balloon artist there which is fun.

All sharing options for:

It’s about sliding into a table that feels like home, and being served by people who feel like family. At Hawthorne’s, we are more than family-friendly, we are a family. And when you dine with us, you become part of that family too. This is now out go-to pizza place in South Charlotte.

Take-Out/Delivery Options

It’s not hard to find great versions of regional pies in the Queen City but singling out next-level pizza offerings from the pack is the hard part. There are family-owned operations with appeal for all ages as well as spots with unique toppings, carefully crafted crusts, and allergen-sensitive menus all ripe for the picking. From upscale digs to neighborhood dives, Charlotte’s got it all.

The food was delicious and the service was superb! We tried different dishes and at the end we got cannolis, so yummy! I definitely recommend this place if you want to eat great food and an amazing time. The owner also went to the table to congratulate me in my graduation! Thank you Kim for a wonderful time!

Figo is an Italian slang word for “cool” and that is the theme of this trendy NoDa restaurant. Traditional pizzas are made with locally-sourced super-fine flour, and fresh mozzarella, but cauliflower crust and plant-based mozzarella are available as substitutions. If you want to be one of the “figo” kids, try the Tre Carne pizza with pepperoni, meatballs, and pancetta or the pepperoni rolls with sugo dipping sauce.

We were driving through Charlotte, NC and spotted this Restaurant nearby. We entered to celebrate my doctorate graduation. She gave us multiple options to meet all our needs.

They used to be really good with consistent quality. I have had a pleasant experience each time I have been there. The wings were AMAZING and the tea was delicious. Tea tends to be my standard for how well the food is going to be.

Figo36 Modern Italian + Wine Bar

The Crust gets its name from the Midwest-style pizzas it slings with impossibly thin, crunchy cracker crusts loaded with the toppings of your choice. Pineapple does go on pizza at this place, along with over 30 other toppings and sauces. Try the Palermo with fresh garlic and gorgonzola or the Buffalo chicken with a side of creamy Parmesan dressing. Putting the party in “pizza party” with its square cuts and tavern pizzas since 2014 in Naples, Florida, the Kanellopoulos family is one of the new kids on the ParkTowne Village block.

The pizza was not at all crispy, did seem soggy and the baked ziti tasted like salt. Neither of us could taste the sauce or the cheese or really even the ziti, just salt. Wont be going back, which is sad since its the closest pizza place. I've used Hawthorne's catering service twice now for work events and have had the best experience!

This place has top notch NY style pizza even the crust flops just right. We had the Philly Cheese steak pizza, steak, cream sauce, bacon, onions topped with chipotle aioli. It was phenomenal and I am a harsh pizza critic.

I mean I chose this as the restaurant for my birthday if that doesnt tell you everything. When you dine with us, you won’t find swanky reclaimed wood tables, or fancy craft cocktails. We believe that an excellent dining experience is about more than just food and atmosphere.

Everyone raved about the food on both occasions, the staff are very friendly and wonderful to work with. With both experiences my orders were accurate, the delivery was on time and the food was incredible! Been a while since I went there due to moving away. Back in town and thought it would be great to take some back to hotel for dinner. I ordered literally one dish and they messed it up.(insult to injury was bread burnt to hockey puck status) Clearly theres no one expediting to send out orders.

One of the injured CMPD officers "fought for his life for several hours before succumbing to his injuries," CMPD confirmed late Tuesday night. Charlotte Country Day’s record-setting winners were Freddy Klein (200 individual medley) and Charlie O’Shea (100 breaststroke). And Providence Day’s 200 freestyle relay team of Dean Hamid, Nik Pillai, David Dunham and Granger Bartee broke a record in victory.

Sophomore Caroline Mallard and junior Elle Scott led the victorious Buccaneers, each winning two events and swimming on two first-place relay teams. Corporal Casey Hoover was serving as a member of the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force when he was shot in the upper part of his body. The CMPD SWAT team and MEDIC's mass casualty unit were among those who responded to the shooting scene. After officers shot Hughes, SWAT negotiated with the others inside the home. The fourth officer killed during the shooting Monday was identified by the U.S.

And it means taking additional action to combat the scourge of gun violence. Leaders in Congress need to step up so that we ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, require safe storage of guns, and pass universal background checks and a national red flag law. Police say as the task force tried to serve a warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, they were met with gunfire, and officers returned fire. During that shootout, authorities struck the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Terry Clark Hughes, and he was pronounced deceased in the front yard.

At one point, Wilson said he saw one officer dragged through his home by his shoulders. He wasn’t able to see the extent of the officer’s injuries or whether the officer was shot. As officers approached Hughes, they said they were met by more gunfire from inside the home. After a long standoff, officers cleared the house and found two females inside, an adult and a 17-year-old, who were both brought to the police station as persons of interest.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred today involving multiple law enforcement officers. Our Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center emergency department teammates immediately began providing care to the injured. It felt funny on his tongue and made him drool a bit. And of course he couldn’t say anything.

He loves playing with the other barnyard animals and is often times outsmarted or embarrassed by them. As the story progresses, Wilbur learns important lessons and values, such as courage and friendship. He also discovers that true friendship can be found in unexpected places.

The moral of the story is that friendship knows no bounds. The farm animals work together, and the friendship truly blossoms between Wilbur and Charlotte. Additionally, Fern’s love of the animals, particularly in the first half of the novel, plays into this moral quite well. She declares that they are her best friends, rather than any children her own age she might know.

It is not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer. Meanwhile, an evil fox named Farley comes and steals a chicken from the barn, and Wilbur is framed for the attack after trying to stop him.
